Becoming British. Refugees, Citizenship and Experiences of Integration In times of financial hardship within their organisations it was heartening to have nearly 80 migrant & refugee organisations, statutory sector workers and individuals come together to discuss an important subject of our time: Becoming British’. It was the overwhelming opinion of those present that ‘British’ is whatever we are and ‘whatever we want it to be’. Whilst ‘what we are’ in some cases was an uncomfortable truth, ‘what we wanted it to be’ was a society that accepted us all for who we are and made us comfortable to be who we want to be. Thank you to all who attended and made it a constructive and memorable day!
