Individually tailored work placement programme for unemployed refugees launched
A new individually tailored work placement programme for unemployed refugees has been launched from ATS Community Employment. The programme includes: advice and guidance; training and support; job search skills; intensive ESOL/basic skills tuition; and specialist sector-focused training linked to work placement and job opportunities which lead to sustainable employment. "RED" aims to secure suitable employment for refugee engineers
The online Refugee Engineers Database (RED) facilitates links between engineers and employers. Registration is free and open to refugee engineers throughout the UK. It gathers in one place comprehensive data on qualified and experienced engineers with refugee status.

Home Office extends Mayor's Refugee Integration remit
In January, the Home Office asked the Mayor of London to extend the remit of his Board for Refugee Integration in London (BRIL) to cover asylum seekers awaiting a decision on their claim, in addition to those already granted refugee status. ActionAid is looking for partners to pilot its Reflect for ESOL Resource Materials. The Reflect for ESOL Resource Pack is a brand new set of materials intended for anyone teaching or working with refugees, asylum seekers, or long-term immigrant groups in the UK.
